Let your ears be instruments of peace.
Multi-Flutist Pamela Whitman transports audiences on a journey of the heart and spirit with her collection of rare flutes from around the world. She uses special effects and soaring, original interpretations of flute songs culled from her world travel adventures.
This contemplative peace concert features world music and original selections for Gandhi; Martin Luther King Junior; Thich Nhat Hanh; Mother Teresa; the Dalai Lama and more.
The music is interwoven with video footage and a history of nonviolent social change exemplified by these leaders.
The Season for Nonviolence is an international 64-day educational, media, and grassroots campaign spanning the memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The Season honors their vision for an empowered nonviolent world.
When a baby eaglet is born, the parent eagle can see the egg wobbling around. While the parent can see the eaglet struggling to break free from the shell, it cannot help. The baby eaglet needs the struggle to gain strength in its wings. In The Power Song of the Eagle, Pamela Whitman plays a traditional Nez Perce eagle song on her Eagle flute. In the second part of the song, she imitates the birth process of the eaglet using special effects and improvisational techniques.
Pamela Whitman has interwoven a Traditional Israeli flute song with a traditional Palestinian flute song. The photos were taken by Arab and Jewish children during the Kids With Cameras Jerusalem Project. Read Photographer Jason Eskenazi’s fascinating account of teaching photography to Arab and Jewish kids. “ The goal of the project was to make a portrait of Jerusalem from each side of the divide.” http://jasoneskenazi.com/kwc/kwc02.html
